Confirm What the Tank Is Actually Doing

Verify the Physical Level Before Blaming the Sensor

- Record whether the warning appears when the tank is visibly high, normal, or low.
- Check for a tilted cartridge, incorrect mounting height, damaged body, blocked vent, loose cap, or ink in an air/pressure line.
- Look for a float that appears obstructed, but do not pry, bend, magnetize, or manually defeat it.
- Inspect the level-sensor connector and wiring for contamination, corrosion, looseness, or incorrect routing.
If It Overfills, Trace Why Filling Did Not Stop
An overflow symptom can involve the level/float signal, an inlet valve that does not close, pump control, pressure or vent behavior, wiring, or a service-setting problem. Treat these as possibilities, not a diagnosis.
- Stop automatic filling and contain any leak using the machine’s approved service procedure.
- Compare the physical level with the reported level state.
- Check whether the pump or inlet valve continues operating after the level rises.
- Inspect vent and pressure tubing for blockage, liquid entry, kinks, or loose fittings.
- Have a trained technician test the sensor circuit and valve/pump command if visual evidence is inconclusive.
If It Runs Dry, Trace the Upstream Ink Path

- Confirm the correct main ink container is not empty and is seated or connected as specified by the printer maker.
- Look for kinked tubing, collapsed tubing, loose fittings, visible air gaps, blocked filters, or a closed manual valve.
- Record whether the pump runs, whether liquid moves, and whether the tank level changes during the approved fill command.
- Check whether the float or level signal remains in a “full” state while the tank is visibly low.
- Do not use a syringe, compressed air, or the wrong cleaning fluid unless the manufacturer’s service procedure explicitly calls for it.
Match the Cartridge by More Than Capacity

- Printer brand, exact model, configuration, ink type, and affected channel
- Original cartridge photos from every side, including any label or part number
- Body length, height, thickness, stated volume, mounting points, and available clearance
- Number, diameter, orientation, and purpose of every inlet, outlet, vent, and pressure port
- Float or level-sensor type, connector, wire count, cable length, and mounting position
- Tubing inside/outside dimensions, fittings, filter, valve, pump, and the exact overflow/no-flow timeline

Does an overflow warning prove the float sensor is bad?
No. Compare the warning with the physical level and inspect the inlet valve, pump command, pressure/vent path, wiring, and printer-specific service data before replacing parts.
Why is the sub-ink tank empty even though the main ink container has ink?
A closed or blocked route, air leak, filter restriction, valve or pump problem, cartridge-seating issue, or incorrect level signal may interrupt refill. Record what the pump and liquid level do during the approved fill command.
Can I bypass the float switch to keep printing?
Do not use a bypass as a production fix. Losing level protection can allow overflow, dry-running, ink leakage, or damage to nearby components.
Can I buy a replacement by volume alone?
No. Confirm dimensions, ports, tubing, float/sensor, connector, mounting structure, ink chemistry, and the original-part photos as well as volume.
