AI-generated editorial scenes reference the actual product photos shown in the product cards below. They illustrate detached-part identification, not installation instructions, current batch labels or measured specifications.

Which UV Ink Filter Should You Order?

Match the specified filtration rating, approved UV ink chemistry, required flow and both connections. A 5µm filter is not automatically a better replacement for a 10µm filter. Black housing and a matching tube size also do not, by themselves, establish compatibility.

This UV printer ink filter buying guide helps operators, technicians and purchasing teams compare actual order options. Start with the original filter code and your machine's ink-system specification, then use the checks below to resolve missing information before buying.

Known specification

Your system requires 5µm

Compare the exact 5µm option, its rating basis, flow requirements and fittings. Do not substitute solely because another listing also says “5µm.”

Known specification

Your system requires 10µm

Keep the documented requirement unless the equipment or ink-system supplier approves a change. A smaller number is not an automatic upgrade.

Missing specification

You only have a photo

Capture the complete label and both ports. Ask for the original specification before choosing between micron ratings or connector options.

01 · Identify the circuit

Is This a Liquid Ink Filter?

A printer can contain liquid ink filters, tank vents, mist filters and cooling-air filters. Their names may look similar in search results, but the application matters. Check the parts diagram or service record to identify the circuit before ordering.

For example, Mimaki describes a UV-lamp filter used to keep dust and ink mist away from the lamp assembly. That is a different maintenance task from filtering liquid ink. Mimaki's UV-lamp filter guidance.

  • Record whether the part serves a supply line, a return or circulation line, a vent, or a cooling system.
  • Identify the ink channel and the filter's position from the machine documentation.
  • Keep any direction markings and port labels in your reference photos.

If you are still comparing capsule and disc shapes or investigating flow symptoms, start with our inline filter format and troubleshooting guide. Here, the focus is specifying a UV liquid-ink replacement.

02 · Read the complete code

5µm vs 10µm: Which Option Matches Your Order?

The capsule product page contains several options. Its page title is not enough to identify the selected item: the current black CBT options include the following two different codes.

Black capsule option Listed rating Purchase check
DIPMFJB-P-INKPP0500KC 5µm Confirm the 0500 code and the exact 5µm option on the order.
DIPMFJB-P-INKPP1000KC 10µm Confirm the 1000 code and the exact 10µm option on the order.

These values come from the current store options and reference labels. They are not independent filtration test results. The listing does not establish a nominal or absolute rating basis, a retention-efficiency test, or the pressure-drop curve for your ink.

Filter manufacturers distinguish between nominal and absolute product ratings. Parker, for example, lists these as separate filtration categories. Ask for the exact filter's rating definition and test basis when comparing suppliers; do not treat the micron number as a complete performance specification. Parker's inks, paints and coatings filtration reference.

Do not choose a finer filter to treat an unexplained print fault. FUJIFILM explains that filtration must remove unwanted material while allowing the intended pigment through, with selection considering the ink and supply system. Confirm the required flow and operating conditions before changing the specification. FUJIFILM's ink-supply guidance.

A useful supplier question is: “Does this exact code meet the original filtration requirement at our ink's operating viscosity and required flow?” Include the machine specification instead of asking only whether 5µm is better than 10µm.

03 · UV and chemical compatibility

Does Black Housing Mean the Filter Is Suitable?

Opaque housing can help protect UV-curable ink from light, but housing color alone does not approve the complete filter. Pall describes light-blocking housings for its UV capsule range and separately addresses compatibility with the fluid being filtered. That is a selection principle, not a specification for the store products in this article. Pall's UV capsule filtration reference.

  • Ink identity: provide the manufacturer, exact ink series and color or channel, including white where applicable.
  • Wetted materials: request compatibility information for the filter medium, housing, seals and supplied adapters.
  • Operating conditions: confirm the system's temperature, pressure and flow requirements against the offered filter's documentation.
  • Maintenance fluids: confirm any approved priming or cleaning fluid separately; ink compatibility does not approve every solvent.

The store lists the black capsule options for UV applications. Still confirm the exact ink formulation and machine arrangement. Do not transfer an approval from water-based DTF ink to UV ink, or infer white-ink suitability from the color of the filter body.

04 · Connector options

Check Both Ends, Even Within the Same Filter Family

The caliper is an inspection prop, not a measurement. The reference is the Black 6*4 Tube option; no tube dimensions can be established from this scene.

The JYY-F-2600 page offers both Black 6*4 Tube and Black Push-in 6*4 options. These are different selections. The product card below opens the Black 6*4 Tube option, whose listing describes a screw connection.

Confirm the meaning of “6 × 4” with a labeled drawing showing tube ID and OD. Likewise, the capsule listing's bare “6mm” tube description needs clarification before it can establish a match.

  • Compare both inlet and outlet: fitting style, mating dimensions, seal location and retention method.
  • For threaded connections, ask for the thread standard and size; a photo cannot establish them reliably.
  • Confirm which nuts, barbs, seals or adapters are included in the selected option.
  • Check body clearance and access for replacement without bending the existing tubing into an unsuitable route.

The JYY listing provides no micron rating for this option. Do not treat it as a documented 5µm or 10µm substitute. Resolve the filtration specification and ink compatibility as well as the connector match.

For a fuller explanation of tube dimensions and mating connections, see our connector-size buying checklist. Do not stretch tubing or force mismatched fittings to make a replacement fit.

05 · Plan the replacement

Inspect the New Filter Before Opening the Ink Circuit

Illustrative receiving inspection. Match the delivered label and fittings to your approved order; the pictured batch details do not identify current stock.

  1. Check the delivery: compare the complete code, selected micron option, connector configuration and included accessories with the order. Inspect the housing and connections for damage.
  2. Prepare the service procedure: follow the printer manufacturer's shutdown and isolation instructions, including pressure release where required. Use the ink safety data sheet for handling and protective equipment.
  3. Protect the open circuit: have the correct replacement ready, keep connections clean and limit UV ink's exposure to curing light. Do not open a line merely to compare an uncertain part.
  4. Install and prime as specified: a qualified technician should follow the machine's documented direction, sealing and priming procedure. Do not improvise pump pressure or force ink through the printhead.
  5. Verify before production: perform the prescribed leak, supply and nozzle checks. Record the installed code and service date for the next order.
Stop if the procedure or specification is missing. Do not force-flush or reuse a disposable capsule, mix cleaning fluids, or bypass filtration to restore flow. If leakage, persistent air or unstable supply remains after the prescribed checks, stop and have the ink path assessed.

There is no universal replacement interval supported here. Follow the machine's maintenance schedule and any documented filter condition limits. A repeated restriction may call for investigating ink condition or the supply system, rather than repeatedly installing a finer filter.

Compare the Exact Store Options

These three selections use current product photos and link to the corresponding options. The two capsule cards share one product page but select different micron ratings. Availability and supplied details should be checked on the page when ordering.

UV Ink Filter Buying FAQ

Can I replace a 10µm UV ink filter with 5µm?

Only when the equipment or ink-system supplier approves the change for the actual ink and required flow. The smaller number alone does not prove suitability.

Are all black ink filters suitable for UV ink?

No. Confirm light protection, wetted-material compatibility and operating requirements for the exact part and ink series.

Does “6 × 4” state that two filters connect the same way?

No. Confirm which numbers refer to OD and ID, then compare the connection style, seals and both ports. The JYY page has separate screw-connection and push-in options.

What micron rating is the JYY-F-2600 Black 6*4 Tube option?

The current listing does not specify one. Request documentation for the supplied option instead of assuming it matches either capsule rating.

Will a new filter fix ink starvation or banding?

It may help if a restricted or unsuitable filter is confirmed as the cause. Those symptoms alone do not diagnose the filter; check the complete supply path using the machine's service procedure.
